Our Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract is produced from Chamomilla Recutita and is also known as German Chamomile or Blue Chamomile. It contains both the volatile and non-volatile CO2 soluble components of Chamomilla recutita (synonymous with Matricaria recutita).

CO2 Totals are CO2 Supercritical Extracts that have been extracted at higher pressure than those classified as CO2 Selects. CO2 Totals are the closest representation of the natural plant ever achieved.

Aromatically, our Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract possesses a pleasant, fruity, floral chamomile aroma that is similar in aroma to that of the original botanical. It is much fresher, sweeter and pleasant in aroma than most steam distilled German chamomile essential oils. If you tend to prefer the aroma of English and Roman chamomile essential oils to that of German chamomile oils, then there is an excellent chance that you will be very pleased with the aroma of our Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract.

Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract is especially soothing, calming and supportive for dry, mature, damaged and problem skin types. Due to its Matricin content, it is also highly anti-inflammatory.

Our conventional Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract is similar in color, aroma and composition to that of our Organic German Chamomile Total CO2 Extract.

Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract is a deep golden green. In addition to its natural composition of essential oil constituents, it contains the heavier waxes, fatty acids, resins, color compounds and other non-volatile compounds.

Matricin, a sesquiterpene that is present within the CO2 extract but not the steam distilled oil, is reported to offer superior anti-inflammatory action to that of Chamazulene. Because Matricin is considered to be more effective than Chamazulene, less CO2 is often needed to achieve the same results and efficacy in comparison to working with the steam distilled essential oil.

Chamomile Flower CO2 Total Extract is thick at room temperature and should be gently warmed before incorporating it into blends and formulations. It is soluble in essential oils and vegetable oils.

Comments: Smells exactly like Chammomile Tea, which is nice. But it is very thick and difficult to disperse. I warmed the bottle in hot water and used a dropper. It still was so thick that a lot of the product remained in the dropper and was wasted - that's my only disappointment. I need to improve my method so none of this precious extract is wasted next time!

Comments: The usual excellent quality you would expect from FNWL. Smells the closest to the true chamomile flower I've ever experienced. Sweet and honey-like without the pungent woody undertones. Very viscous, almost resinous. Had to place bottle in warm water and it still would not pour out of bottle.
