Overall, this book is very nice. It has lots of full-colored pictures, however, the liquid soap making methods in this book are a little complicated. I think it could be easier than these methods. Also, batches of the recipes are so large so that I had to change the amounts of oils for my batches.

This is the only book I have on liquid soapmaking. I found it to be full of information, though somewhat scattered. I had to flip back and forth between pages constantly. While the process is time consuming,I did have great success with the recipes, though, and would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in liquid soapmaking.

I thought this book was okay. The idea of following a recipe though and still hoping that it turns out, really doesn't make you want to rush out and attempt to make liquid soap. Maybe someone else will find this one more helpful than I did.

I personally found this book to be full of information on making liquid soaps. The detail is good and it really gives the complete overview of the process. This is a more advanced soapmaking procedure, so proceed with caution! But, I found this book useful and a good reference.

As someone who has been making CP soap as well as lotions and creams, I thought this book would not be a challenge to follow. It was. The recipes all require large proportions, and yet a lot of the book leaves the process up to trial and error. Sorry, but if I'm going to be using 40 oz of base oil per batch, I'm not excited about wasting several batches before I can get it near correct. The recipes also do not match the calculations or instructions found in soap calculators on the web, so it's hard to change the size or switch out base oils without worrying that yet another batch will be wasted. Also, if you're a stick blender devotee, be VERY careful using these recipes. You have to stop when it just starts to thicken in the slightest, or you'll find yourself with an ever-expanding volcano of toxic soap mix barfing out of your soap pan and all over your stovetop (I used a 12 qt pan and it still went over the top). If it happens, don't bother with her troubleshooting tips -- just throw out the batch, because it will just make you crazy and still won't come out right. Lastly, you have to get phenophtalein (sp?) to work with her recipes, and that's not easy to find.

I was a bit disappointed with this book, but it may just be because it wasn't what I was looking for (or expecting!). I was looking for an easy way to make liquid soaps without using KOH (or other kinds of lye). From what I did see, it has good pictures and explanations for hot processing liquid soaps from scratch. Time Consuming! Hehe...

"Thank you SO much for getting my order here overnight. I was asked last minute to do a television demonstration, and didn’t have one of the products that I needed. I will certainly mention your Web site as a good source for the polysorbate 20."
