Part 04: Necessary Equipment

Formulating your own natural cosmetics requires very little equipment. If you already have an adequately equipped kitchen, you have most of what you need Not all of the below equipment is required for each type of recipe. Refer to the recipes section of this article for the specific equipment required for the recipe.

  • Bowls, Including Tiny Bowls
  • Mortar and Pestle
  • Small Spoons for Mixing
  • Double Boiler
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Measuring Cups
  • Pipettes

Visit FromNatureWithLove.com's Equipment section for a categorized selection of equipment that you may not already have on hand.

Tips:

When making cosmetics and especially when working with the colorants, we often work with minute sizes of ingredients. We recommend that you have a measuring spoon set on hand like FromNatureWithLove.com's Measuring Spoon Set that includes a 1/8 teaspoon size.

For smaller measurements, FNWL's .15 cc Scoops are especially handy.

If you experiment with very small batches, having a set that includes a 1/16 and 1/32 teaspoon size is ideal. Sometimes, you can find Smidgen, Pinch and Dash measuring spoon sets available at some kitchen stores:

  • Smidgen = 1/32 teaspoon
  • Pinch = 1/16 teaspoon
  • Dash = 1/8 teaspoon

Customer Testimonial

"Your prices are better on just about everything I need (not everything, but most), and I love that there is no minimum order. I also love the resource of being able to e-mail you and ask questions about the best way to use your products. I'd like to expand into offering all natural body care stuff, but sometimes I have questions. I've been telling anybody who could benefit about this site - it's amazing. Just keep up the good work."
