Daruhaldi roots, also known as Indian Barberry, is said to exhibit strong anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Decoctions of the root bark of Indian Barberry were used in folk medicine to treat inflammations, sores, abrasions, wounds, ulcerations of the skin, hemorrhoids, acne, and other skin problems/disorders. Daruhaldi powder was often made into a paste with water and honey to treat blemishes and pimples. Add Daruhaldi powder to facials, masks, and herbal hair rinses. A strong tea can also be made with daruhaldi and neem powders to be used as a facial toner for acne prone skin.
