Sangre de Drago (or Dragon's Blood) is extracted from a medium to large sized tree that grows in the tropics and in the Amazonian regions of South America. When the trunk of the tree is cut or wounded, it exudes a dark, red sap or resin that resembles blood. The curative powers of this thick resin and tree bark were well known by indigenous tribes of Mexico, Peru and Ecuador. They painted the sap onto their skin to help stop bleeding, protect wounds, and promote healing. The antiseptic sap dries quickly, forming a seal over wounded skin, preventing infection and allowing the skin to heal. In tribal medicine, the Sangre De Drago sap was used both externally and well as internally, to heal wounds, stomach ulcers, throat infections, mouth ulcers, skin afflictions and insect bites. The sap is additionally believed to be useful as an antiherpes agent. These ethnomedical applications of the sap have been confirmed by both in vitro and in vivo studies.
The wound healing abilities of Sangre de Drago, are attributed to its active constituents: proanthocyanadins (antioxidants), a lignan called dimethylcedrusine, and an alkaloid called taspine. Taspine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, antisarcomic, antiviral, antitumor and cicatrizing properties. Studies have also shown that Sandre de Drago resin can help contract a wound, form a crust at the wound site, assist in the formatiom of collagen and regenerate skin cells. This unique combination of anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and cicatrizing properties make the resin an exceptional ingredient in formulations intended for healing skin abrasions, wounds, burns, eczema and rashes. Location: San Antonio, TX This resin is a true miracle. It heals severe eczema patches on skin in a couple days with only a once a day application! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
