Catnip essential oil, Nepeta cataria, is from the mint family and has been used in folk medicine to help relieve headaches, migraines, cramps and fever. Recently, catnip essential oil has been studied for its unparalleled effectiveness in repelling mosquitoes and other insects. Make your own natural insect repellent: Blend 10 drops lemon eucalyptus, 5 drops geranium, 5 drops catnip and 10 drops cedarwood Virginia with 30 drops of polysorbate 20. Add this to 8 oz of distilled water and add 1% Germaben.
