Chitrak root powder is used in the Ayurvedic treatment for skin diseases, scabies, hemorrhoids, acne and skin infections. It contains plumbagin, which exhibits wide spectrum anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activity. To use chitrak root powder, make a paste and apply it externally to the affected area. An infusion or “tea” of the root may be used as a hair rinse. The powder may be added to bath teas for acne prone skin or for those suffering from chicken pox. Use chitrak root powder combination with neem powder for strong anti-bacterial properties.
