Organic Cistus Hydrosol, also known as Rock Rose Hydrosol or Labdanum Hydrosol, isn't the most aromatically pleasant hydrosol for some, but it's applications in skin care are significant and make up for its distinctive herbaceous aroma. We certainly don't want to discourage you from experimenting with the hydrosol as some do find the aroma pleasant.
Cistus Hydrosol is highly astringent. Suzanne Catty suggests and recommends the use of Cistus Hydrosol to help minimize the appearance of wrinkles and to help protect maturing skin. It may also be effective in helping to prevent the appearance of stretch marks.
General Applications:
- Facial Toner

- Use in Clay Facials and Masks

Visit our Hydrosols category page for a detailed introduction to hydrosols. For more in-depth information on hydrosols and their many valuable applications, we recommend the book Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy Book by Suzanne Catty.
We ship our hydrosols in plastic to avoid breakage, but hydrosols should be transferred to glass as soon as possible. Like essential oils, hydrosols should be stored in a cool dry place. The shelf life of hydrosols is up to 2 years when they are stored properly. Our Cistus Hydrosol does not contain any preservatives. Hydrosols can be stored in the refrigerator.
*Typical Shelf Life begins on the date of manufacture and is defined as the typical shelf life of an ingredient when it is stored and handled properly. The Typical Shelf Life is offered as a general guideline. It should not be considered to be an expiration date. Many ingredients are usable beyond the stated date, especially when stored and handled very carefully.
