Demerara Sugar is a medium grain, golden brown sugar with a naturally rich sugarcane molasses content. Its distinctive color and crystalline texture make it well suited for artisans and manufacturers developing sugar scrubs, body polishes and other exfoliating formulations where a more natural appearance and noticeable texture are desired.

Demerara Sugar provides gentle to medium physical exfoliation and is suitable for use in both facial and body scrub formulations. Its larger crystals create a more substantial exfoliating texture than finer grain sugars, making particle size an important consideration when selecting it for a finished formulation.

Demerara Sugar naturally contains trace amounts of minerals including calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. These minerals are present in greater amounts than in refined white sugar, although they remain minor constituents of the ingredient.

For artisans who are new to formulating with sugar, Demerara Sugar can be used as the primary exfoliating ingredient or combined with other compatible ingredients to create products with the desired texture, appearance and sensory characteristics.
