Strawberrylicous Toner Recipe

Submitted By:

Summary:

The scent of fresh strawberries delights as this toner cleanses and treats your skin.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. comfrey leaves
1 tbsp. chamommile flowers
1 tbsp. calendula petals
1 tsp. rose hips
1 tsp. strawberry leaf (optional)
1/2 tsp. peppermint (optional)
(Herbs can be dried or fresh. If using fresh, you might want to throw in a pinch more than indicated)
1/2 cup witch hazel
1/2 cup 1 proof vodka
2 large, fresh, ripe strawberries

Instructions:

There is a long way to make this recipe, and a short way. I prefer the short way because I am don't always have the patience for the long way. Either one gives your face a wonderful, soothing glow - and smells heavenly!
Short Version:
1. Boil the water. Once it's boiling, turn off the heat and add the herbs. Cover and let steep until water is room temperature.
2. Strain out the herbs, saving the tea. Press the herbs lightly to get out all the liquid. Discard herbs.
3. Munch on one of the stawberries. Take the other stawberry and cut into small pieces.
4. Combine tea, witch hazel and vodka in a bottle or airtight container. Drop the strawberry pieces into the container. Seal and shake.
To Use: Shake bottle lightly. After washing your face, use a cotton ball to apply toner in an upward motion, starting at your neck. Follow with your favorite moisturize.
The strawberry scent increases the longer the toner sits.
Long Version:
1. Boil the water. Once it's boiling, turn off the heat and add the herbs. Cover and let steep until water is room temperature. Munch on one of the strawberries while you are waiting.
2. Munch on one of the stawberries. Take the other stawberry and cut into small pieces.
3. Combine all the ingredients in an airtight jar or container, including the herbs. Store in a cool, dark place for 1 - 2 weeks. Shake occassionally, to stir things up.
4. Strain the herbs and strawberries from the liquid. Press lightly to get all the juices out.
5. Store in an airtight bottle or jar and use as indicated above.
Makes about 16 ozs. of toner. Lasts for up to 3 months with the strawberry in the bottle, up to 8 with the long version (although I must admit - it never lasts that long in my house. I use it all up before then!)
